Reebok Celebrates 30 Years of Empowering Expression With Its New Women’s Workout Vintage

The essential British athletic label that is Reebok dips into its archives once again to release another of its iconic silhouettes, and this time exclusively for women: the Workout Vintage.

For the launch, Reebok tapped Italian designer and creative entrepreneur Gilda Ambrosio. Ambrosio’s expressive and independent spirit comes through with her personal style as well as her designs and work for Attico, the womenswear label she launched February 2016 with Giorda Tordini.

Known for collaborating with other bold, culturally engaged, and authentic creatives in the space—including Gigi Hadid, Ariana Grande, and Victoria Beckham—Reebok chose to work with Ambrosio as her work and ethos mirror the atmosphere and ideas that surrounded the original Workout sneakers release.

Hitting the market back in 1987, the original Workout was an iconic silhouette that tapped into the era’s zeitgeist. Like many Reeboks at the time, the Workout became a core fitness model associated, in one respect, with the aerobic craze and the burgeoning health movement of the mid-80s, but on another, with its bold colors and simple design, it was a sneaker that transcended styles and communities as it effortlessly transferred over from a shoe designed principally to exercise to one you could wear with whatever out on the street.

Sport and exercise have the power to bring different people together, and the original Reebok Workout was built for the diverse needs of the equally diverse people who wore it.

The new Workout Vintage for 2017 is no different. The shoe drops in a subtly revamped design and a fresh set of colorways exclusively for women. Its clean low-profile silhouette is intact while understated colorways of X and X means it’ll pair up with almost anything you wear. Reebok celebrates three decades of powering expression with the Workout Vintage, releasing December 14.
