Illustrator @Hoodass Imagines Advertising & Brands in a Dystopian Future

@Hoodass, or Filip Hodas, is a 3D illustrator from Prague. His latest illustrations look like they could be deleted scenes from 2008’s WALL-E, where Earth has been abandoned, and all that remains are landfills and broken monuments to consumerism.

Hodas’s work touches on some similar themes, as he shows video game and pop culture icons like Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse rusting in disrepair. One standout example is the head of Futurama‘s Bender, neglected and covered in moss beside a stream. If you like Filip’s work, you can also purchase some prints of his work here.

A Quick Insight Into the Double Credit Ending of DC’s ‘Justice League’

In case you didn’t already know, two bonus credit scenes were recently tacked onto the DC Justice League film. As a technique that is often used by DC rival Marvel, what’s the role of the mid/end credit and is it worth the hype?

The surprise implementation of a plot-developing credit scene is kind of no longer a surprise. As mentioned, Marvel has made great use of this in films such as Iron Man, Thor and, of course, The Avengers; so much so that fans of the films almost always expect it.

It has its uses, of course. More often than not, the scenes introduce a potential new character spinoff or a nod to the next superhero film, even explaining back-plots. But now DC is trying its hand at it, and we don’t know if we should be excited.

The majority of films under the DC franchise are produced by Warner Bros. and it’s no secret the studio didn’t get off to a good start with superhero releases Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. Despite the hype, the two flicks failed to make as big a box office return since The Dark Knight Rises – which was released in 2012. Even the recent Justice League feature has become a dividing line among fans.

So what about these bonus scenes? Well, without giving away too much of the plot, the first scene appears to be a teaser for a future DC Extended Universe team-up that could be interesting if pulled off well. It starts and ends with a race between two characters that we’ll see in a joint feature soon. The second scene is a nod to fans and readers of the DC comics. If you’re even somewhat interested in the franchise, this second teaser could be the reason that Justice League keeps some sort of traction with a potential upcoming solo movie for a new character.

Although the future of Justice League is uncertain, this newly-adopted feature could be a way for DC and Warner Bros. to stay on top in the superhero movie game.

These 3D-Printed Honeycomb Neighborhoods Give Shelter to Homeless

Visit the original post to see all 4 images from this gallery.

In efforts to provide shelter for the rising homeless population in New York City, creative agency Framlab proposes a solution with a series of 3D-printed micro-neighborhoods comprised of hexagonal housing modules.

Dubbed “Homed,” the idea is these units will be able to connect to a structure and be densely stacked to create a second, active layer of lots alongside an empty wall, providing year-round housing that can withstand any type of harsh weather.

With the modules pre-fabricated and a typical wall able to host up to 95 units, the interior modules are 3D-printed from recyclable bioplastics, offering an eco-friendly and cost-effective construction. Furniture, cabinets and equipment can be integrated into the structure, allowing for a minimal space that does not need additional accessories as well.

In addition, while the appearance of the modules during the day form a mosaic-like profile, the units can also be functional at night by being able to showcase digital artwork, public information and commercial advertisements.

Stephen Curry Is Teaching an Online Class on How to Shoot Like Him

MasterClass Online Classes give regular people the opportunity to get instruction from luminaries in various fields like filmmaking (Martin Scorsese), screenwriting (Aaron Sorkin), journalism (Bob Woodward), fashion design (Marc Jacobs) and many other disciplines.

However, for those who consider athletics to be the major arena they are most passionate about, there’s been a notable vacancy when in comes to instruction.

That is no longer the case after it was announced that Golden State Warrior sharp shooter, Stephen Curry, would add “professor” to a resumé that already includes two MVP awards.

Specifically, he has created a curriculum that he wishes he had access to when he was ascending from the beginner to intermediate level.

In an interview with Chris Haynes of ESPN, Curry states, “If I think about where I was when I was 13, if I had access to this type of curriculum, I would have been a much better player faster,” he said. “It took me a while to learn how to practice and do the drills the right way. I want people to see how I invest in my game, how I train, what I do in my workouts and what’s my mental approach. So when the opportunity with MasterClass came about to put a class together where I can show people my unique way of playing this game, it was [a] natural fit. The goal is for everybody to get better and enjoy basketball more. I want them to push and challenge themselves, and hopefully they see the game differently.”

His class is now open for pre-enrollment here and will go live in early 2018.

wings+horns Is Dropping the Blackest Collection in the World

Canadian label wings+horns are launching a new collection called Kyoto Black. Based on the culture of black. The idea that black is absolute, the color of subtlety, silhouette and shadow, darkness and night, and also the color chosen for formality, dignity. It is timeless and eternal.

Created in partnership between wings+horns and Kyoto Montsuki Company, a 4th generation family business who has worked with black – and only black – since 1915. Kyoto Montsuki Co.’s dye process evolved through competition to produce the blackest Japanese formal wear possible. This competition between dye houses led Japan to be regard as are global experts in black oxide finishes. In 1996, Kyoto Montsuki Co. created a new ecologically sound dying technique that is non-toxic and colorfast in the sun and the rain.

Built on the value of process, technique and expertise, and creating something with meaning through the spirit of black, the Kyoto Black collection is is comprised of classic Canadian-made French Terry crewnecks and sweatpants, alongside Japanese-made trucker jackets and 5-pocket pants. Each piece is hand-dyed in Japan, further representing the culture of quality and attention to detail that the partnership was established around.

To fully express the handcrafted quality of the collection, wings+horns worked with art book publisher, Brick Press, best known for hand-printing and binding art-zines on their 2 color press. In this short video, Ryan Smith of Brick Press prints the limited edition Kyoto Black book included with each order while supplies last.

The collection is extremely limited and available on wingsandhorns.com and at select retailers worldwide now.

Check out This Limited Edition Concrete Watch Inspired by Brutalist Architecture

Visit the original post to see all 5 images from this gallery.

Struggling with holiday gift ideas this season or just in need of some new wristwear? Terra Cielo Mare has designed a highly limited new watch honoring the contemporary architecture of modern cities, and it’s landed at the perfect time.

The Orienteering Concrete could easily be Q’s Secret Santa for Bond, featuring a CO2 laser engraved concrete dial inspired by brutalist architecture and urban exploration. Based on the original Orienteering BP design worn by Brad Pitt in World War Z (this one is inspired by nature and outdoor exploration), it has the same stellar map on the back case and an inbuilt compass so that you can follow the stars to find your way this Christmas just like the Three Wise Men. Unlike the original, however, this model features an environmentally friendly, recycled carbon fiber strap that’s durable, lightweight and water-resistant — so it’ll survive any New Year’s Eve antics too.

    Our new Orienteering Concrete. For any info write to sales@terracielomare.it #terracielomare #watches #orienteering #concrete #brutalism #architecture #rationalism #urbex #exploration

A post shared by Terra Cielo Mare (@terracielomare) on Oct 13, 2017 at 8:17am PDT

If that wasn’t enough high-tech gadgetry, at closer inspection, the watch has a grade two titanium case, solar compass function, anti-scratch and anti-reflection sapphire crystal and waterproofing. Components that will make a lot of sense to watch aficionados and just sound dope to the rest of us.

Terra Cielo Mare’s limited edition Orienteering Concrete is designed and produced entirely in Italy and it’s available now through the brand’s online store.

Zara’s Latest Sneaker Is Like a Balenciaga Triple-S & Raf Simons Ozweego Hybrid

Visit the original post to see all 3 images from this gallery.

*DJ Khaled voice* Another one! Zara has just dropped its latest high fashion-inspired sneaker — and it might just be its boldest “homage” to date. This particular model looks like it was inspired by Balenciaga’s Triple S and Raf Simons’ Ozweego collaboration with adidas.

Recognizable straight away is the Triple S’s color scheme of light blue and yellow on the upper, popping off against a white midsole, while the padded window on the sneaker’s side strongly reminds us of the same design found on Raf Simons’ Ozweego Bunny.

Zara has given its creation the graceful name of “Contrasting Sneakers with Thick Soles.” It’s priced at $89, which is a lot more than the $35 Zara wanted for its first Triple S knockoff.

So, if you still haven’t jumped on the bulky footwear trend, this affordable offering from fast-fashion outlet Zara may be for you.

Madison Beer Debuts Sensual Video for Her Latest Single “Say It To My Face”

Following the release of her debut single, “Dead,” rising indie pop singer Madison Beer returns with the official music video for “Say It To My Face,” accounting for the second track from her upcoming debut EP. “Say It To My Face,” which has already garnered over 1.4 million streams on Spotify alone, notes production from Grammy-nominated Fred Ball, who has worked with the likes of Rihanna and Madonna, among others.

The aesthetic was in turn shot in Beverly Hills and directed by Luke Gilford. Madison herself was then very hands-on during the entire process, even going so far as to cast the actors for the video.

I was also really involved in the whole process from start to finish which has been awesome. I even got to cast all of the actors that are in the video! It’s so important to me to feel like anything to do with my music is authentically ‘me’, which this video does, and I’m so proud of it.”
